There are no artistic egos at work here, just the desire to provide you with enjoyable, headache-free music. We know how important your event is and will work with you to ensure its success. Dave has received the award for “best horn player” and “best jazz group” from Cleveland Scene magazine. The members of PRIVATE EVENT have performed with such national acts as Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Harry Connick Jr., Donny Osmond and Tony Bennett, and such local acts as The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, The Fat Tuesday Big Band, the Jazz Heritage Orchestra and many others. The group’s demo recording includes a version of “Isn’t She Lovely” that starts as a quartet and ends as a duo to demonstrate what the group sounds like with fewer musicians. The group performs as a quartet, but can be reduced to a trio or duo depending on space, budget and volume concerns. Its repertoire comes from the American Song Book and includes familiar songs made famous by such legendary crooners as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and Louis Armstrong, as well as, artists such as Norah Jones, Stevie Wonder, and The Beatles. The group performs a wide variety of musical styles, including swing, ballads, Latin jazz and holiday favorites. ![]() The Lakefront Promenade offers a brick walkway with a skyline view of downtown Cleveland.PRIVATE EVENT is a jazz group led by veteran saxophonist Dave Sterner with 20+ years experience performing, recording and leading musical groups throughout the region.
